Journey to the Watchtower Sins Tier List
Treat Sins as limited slots, not a collect-all. Score effects, then decide if a second slot is worth 299 R$.
Sins are the second roll layer in Journey to the Watchtower. Spirits tend to color how you move and farm; Sins tend to occupy slots. That difference matters more than any unofficial name list. This page does not invent Sin names, hidden sets, or drop rates. If the HUD prints a name, use it. If a stranger on a 15-player server recites a rarity table, ignore it.
Each run is still individual. You can see other avatars on the sand, but they do not share your Sin slots, your Insanity, or your rebirths. Rank what is equipped on you. For the other roll layer, use the Spirits tier list. For how the two systems meet, read Spirits and Sins. For Robux prices, keep Gamepasses next to this ladder.
Slot economy first
A Sin you cannot equip is not a Sin you have. One strong equipped Sin beats three unread rolls sitting in a menu during a light pulse.
Slot 1 is for the Sin that covers your current fail state. If you die with an empty stamina bar, the occupant should help stamina or recovery. If you die in the deadly light with bar remaining, the occupant should help survival or route timing.
Slot 2 exists only if you own Sin Second Slot at 299 R$. That pass does not roll a Sin for you. It only opens another socket. Filling a second socket with a duplicate job wastes the pass.
Cosmetic trails are not slots. Lightning Trail costs 199 R$ and is a cosmetic. It does not occupy a Sin socket and it does not earn a letter grade. If you do not own the second slot, stop collecting “maybe later” Sins. Play the one that is on.
S through D for Sins
S. Solves a fail state you actually hit, and does not duplicate a shop upgrade you already maxed. An S Sin should still look good after you follow Upgrade Priority.
A. Strong on one axis (movement, stamina, Insanity, or survival) and readable in the tooltip. Worth the only slot on a free account.
B. Fine occupant while you learn the desert. Replace when a later roll covers the same axis more cleanly, or when shop upgrades make the Sin redundant.
C. Requires a situation you cannot create yet, such as standing under the three arches when you still wipe to the first sandworm. Park it in notes, not in the live slot.
D. No readable effect, or an effect that only restates VIP. VIP already gives +50% Insanity and +50% Speed for 199 R$. A Sin that merely echoes those two numbers is a D keep for a paying VIP.
Re-score after every rebirth. The Sin that carried your last 200 meters may be wrong for a faster body.
The 299 R$ second slot
Sin Second Slot is the most expensive pass on the current store at 299 R$. Buy it only if you can name two different jobs you want equipped at the same time. Valid pairs look like “stamina occupancy plus light survival.” Invalid pairs look like “two movement Sins because both animations are cool.”
Do not buy the second slot to store a roll you might use later. Storage is not combat. If you cannot describe the pair in one sentence, keep the 299 R$. Enchanced Recovery at 149 R$ (+50% stamina regen, official spelling Enchanced) will save more first-week runs than an empty extra socket.
After you buy the pass, lock a rule: slot 1 is the fail-state Sin, slot 2 is the stretch Sin. Swap after a rebirth if the fail state changed. That is also why this page links Gamepasses instead of pretending every socket is free.
Keep, replace, or ignore
Keep a Sin when the tooltip maps to a death you keep repeating. Replace it when shop upgrades or a Spirit roll already cover that death. Ignore community “must-roll” lists that never quote a HUD line. The Spirits and Sins guide is the place to learn the roll buttons; this page is only the grading rule.
If you are still in the first hours, you may not need a Sin plan at all. The Beginner build spends shop currency on stamina before it cares about sockets. Come back here after you can survive a light cycle without panic. Then grade the occupant, decide whether 299 R$ would add a second job, and only then open the store. The Watchtower rewards the one or two effects that keep you on the dune line, not a museum of names.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for desert runs, rebirths, and rolls.
Does Sin Second Slot give me a free Sin?
No. The 299 R$ pass opens a second socket. You still have to roll and equip a different job.
Is Lightning Trail part of the Sins tier list?
No. Lightning Trail is a 199 R$ cosmetic. It does not take a Sin slot.
Should F2P buy Sin Second Slot before Enchanced Recovery?
Usually no. Enchanced Recovery is 149 R$ and +50% stamina regen; a second socket is 299 R$ and empty until filled.
How do I grade a Sin with no public name?
Map the tooltip to movement, stamina, Insanity, or survival, then give it S–D. See Spirits and Sins.
Where are the Robux pass prices?
Use Gamepasses for prices and effects, then decide if a second slot fits your kit.
